The Christian Academy of Martial Arts started when Mr. Stieg combined his passion for the martial arts and his Christian walk. He attributes the "Karate Kid" from 1984 as the "kick-start" to this lifelong journey.
In 2009, Mr. Stieg was inducted into the International Independent Martial Arts Hall of Fame as instructor of the year.
"CAMA" continues to operate as a ministry at many churches, along with a dedicated training location. This is a picture of the published book used during classes.
Mr. Stieg had competed in tournaments across the country since 1991, placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in every tournament. He retired from competition in 2009.
The Christian Academy of Martial Arts continues to enter annual tournaments, where students can participate in weapons, kata, self-defense or other competitions.
The picture above is from many years ago, when Mr. Stieg retired after competing in the San Francisco International Open.
Mr. Stieg has trained in multiple arts throughout the years, including traditional hapkido, daito ryu, Kendo, Kumdo, Aikido, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, close quarter combatives, Tae Kwon Do, iado, among others.
He has trained police, correction officers, military on active duty around the country, and contracted through Operations Skills Group in Seaside, CA.
The picture above shows Mr. Stieg cutting a 7-roll tatami mat. A miscut of even 1-2 mats can result in a bent blade.
We hold annual open houses, women's self-defense seminars and Child Abduction Prevention Seminars free to the local community.
A few years ago, the Christian Academy of Martial Arts became part of the Cartoon Network's "Move It Movement" traveling demo team. See the video on our videos page.
Mr. Stieg teaches children and adults ages 7+ with classes for adults in kumdo, close quarte combat, and Hapkido.
